How will I be charged? Can I cancel?

Much like a gym, monthly tuition is $225 per month, charged to your credit card on the first of each month and requires written notice of cancellation by the 20th of the month. Once you register, we want it to be easy for you, so we will continue to charge your card and keep your student on the roster unless you provide written notice by the 20th of the month to cancel the next month’s classes.  Our students tend to stay for YEARS and we have found this is the best policy for helping our teachers prepare for scene assignments and make it easy for families.

When can my Kiddo join and what level?

Registration for on-going classes are open and you can join anytime. All levels work together, much like a real set! We have experienced coaches that train actors individually through notes and scenes. Not to worry!

Registration Questions & Answers

Acting for Kids & Teens has been working with families of actors for over 16 years and we know it can be hard to navigate a new world. We want to make that easier on you. Take a look at our most frequently asked questions and if you have a more specific question, please call or text 971-708-2127.  We are happy to chat as many times as you need to get comfortable.

What cards do you accept? Can I change cards mid-way?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and AMEX. You can update those anytime.

What happens if my class or camp is postponed or rescheduled?

We will automatically move your register to the new class date(s). If you are unable to attend the new dates, we will work with you to find a solution, which may include, without limitation, an exchange into an alternate class or a credit for a future class or camp.*If the student is unable to make the new date a credit will be applied to the account that can be used for a new workshop or class. We are sorry to say that no refunds will be provided. Thank you for your understanding.

Do we sign a release form?

When registering, you will be prompted to acknowledge our Release Forms. These are required for the safety of our studio, staff and other actors. This also acknowledges that photos and videos may be taken of your kiddo. It is acting for TV/Film after all! If you have any questions, please call 971.708.2127 or email info@actingforkidsandteens.com. We are happy to work with your family’s needs.

What is the Drop off/Pick-up policy?

Drop-Off

Due to current safety procedures please drop off your child and return for pick-up promptly when class is over. Our front desk staff is there to greet your kiddo and help get them sanitized and checked in. If you are running late, please call 971.708.2127 and we will let your coach know.

Pick-Up

Class may run a few minutes over from time to time. Please have patience with us as we get excited and try to squeeze a lot in.  If you are running more than 5 mins late, please call 971.708.2127 so we can ask our coach to stay after class. You may be billed $15/15 minute increments should this become an issue. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Can we print at your studio?

Students are provided printed scripts in Ongoing Classes, Workshops and Industry Showcase. Many times students or parents forget their scripts. We will provide an additional copy at no extra cost. Future copies will be billed at $2/copy at the end of each month. You can imagine how much printing we do! It’s a great idea to keep an extra copy of your kiddo’s scripts in a folder in both drop-off cars. We want them to be responsible for their own material as this is industry standard.

Can I make up classes/workshops?

Many acting studios do not allow make-ups but we know life happens and bookings too! We have specific make-up days that we offer should you need them.  If a student misses a class we encourage them to take advantage of make-up classes. They need to take a makeup class within three months of the missed class. Make-ups are forfeited if the student is no longer enrolled in on-going classes. Habitually missed classes will result in a discussion to determine the student’s commitment to on-going classes and scene partners.

If a student misses a workshop may be allowed to use it as a credit toward another workshop/class within that same calendar year. Please check the specific workshop cancellation notice. No refunds are provided. If make-up workshops are habitually missed more than three times, the tuition is forfeited.

What is your Inclement Weather policy?

In the event of bad weather, we typically follow Portland Public School closures. If schools are closed due to weather we will move our classes to our on-line platform. We will also make announcements on our public Facebook page/Instagram page and send out an email announcement. If you are unsure, please call 971.708.2127 or email info@actingforkidsandteens.com. Stay safe!

Where do I find AFKT on social media? Can I tag you?

YES! We love when you tag us and we love to support you by reposting. You can find us on Instagram at ActingforKids and on Facebook at Acting for Kids and Teens. Stay tuned there for fun updates, videos of your kiddo performing and castings.

Why is Acting so special for kids?

Aside from being just plain fun and entertaining, there are so many ways that acting lessons translate to real-life skills, whether you child wants to become a serious career actor or just enjoys it as a hobby. This is an investment for life, and nurturing this passion pays off in so many ways.

  • Acting builds confidence! Putting oneself out there is vulnerable and frightening, but within our supportive community and our expert training, kids gain social skills they never thought they had and self-esteem is naturally built.
  • It’s their own community. This is separate from their school groups, unique to them, a private interest they share with like-minded people.
  • Presentation skills. Let’s face it, at some point in life, we all have to give a presentation, a role that ranks as one of the most feared in life. Acting and the mental preparation it requires will aid in any scenario where one has to perform in front of a group. Invaluable.
  • Camaraderie & teamwork. No actor has ever been successful on their own—it’s a group effort with a team that’s working together in a troupe to create a successful scene and production. Life is a team effort!
  • Using your voice. There is nothing more important than becoming a self-advocate and with the guidance and experience from acting classes, children will grow to understand what it means to be heard.
