Ongoing Acting Classes:
On-Line & In Studio

AFKT Coaches are active in the film community with TV and Film credits  Our Portland Ongoing Acting Workshops and Drama Classes offer students an opportunity to learn acting, to be creative, build confidence and express themselves.  They also learn about the business of acting in TV and Film.  Everyone is welcome!

At AFKT we teach acting for TV & Film specifically.  In class we focus on:

  • Scene Study
  • On Camera Auditioning
  • Training in MeisnerSuzuki, Sense Memory, and Improv techniques.
  • Professional development skills such as on-set etiquette, presenting headshots and resumes
  • Opportunities to perform in our exclusive Industry Showcase events.
  • Students get opportunities to hear guest speakers, actors, directors, producers and agents both locally and from around the country.
  • Tour local casting offices, live sets and production studios, and attend special industry events!

Classes meet weekly. Registration for our on-going classes is open and on-going. Classes are $225 per month, and tuition is auto-processed on the 1st, much like a gym membership.

Great staff, amazing school!

Jason review

I have been training at AFKT for about 4 years now and I have learned so many amazing things and had so many amazing opportunities. Katie and all of the coaches are so caring and take the time to learn what each individual needs to grow as an actor. The environment is so welcoming, from the moment I joined I felt a strong sense of belonging. I am endlessly thankful for Coach Katie and the other amazing coaches, as well as the staff and all of the people I have met a long the way. AFKT doesn't only teach acting, but provides a safe space for artists to feel free and encouraged to create.

Katie O'Grady is the kid whisperer! So much respect for this group of adults that believe in the young actors of the NW. My son Riley has developed as an actor and young man with the help of AFK.

Our daughter immediately felt like she was with "her people" the moment she started acting for kids and teen! She even landed her FIRST ever audition and Sag rated gig after being in the class for just a week! We were grateful they sent the opportunity to audition even though she is new to the acting scene. Grateful to know this community of vivacious souls!

5 BIG STARS for Katie O’Grady, Jessica and the whole crew at the Acting for Kids & Teens studio. What an incredible place we have in Portland! We (both parent and child) have had nothing but great experiences with the studio from learning the craft of acting in weekly classes to opportunities to be in and know the process of movie-making all the while being surrounded by other fun, young creatives and teachers. Not only do they provide quality training but do so in a supportive, loving environment that is SO important for children, especially in this industry. It’s very clear that they care about children and work to support their interests in a fun and encouraging manner. My daughter, who’s interest in theatre developed into a passion, recently signed with a talent agency and we are so grateful for the solid foundational training from Acting for Kids and Teens and their continued support both inside and outside the classroom. If your child likes performing you cannot go wrong with Acting for Kids & Teens!

Katie O'Grady and all of the coaches here at this studio are absolutely wonderful! I am a current actor in LA and graduated with Honors and a Theatre and Music degree from Pepperdine University, and am so thankful for the time I spent in this studio! It better prepared me for my future career, and did so in a loving, safe, and supportive environment!

It has been an incredible experience to have our daughter and son in classes at Acting for Kids & Teens. The acting teachers have encouraged them to take risks, work as a team, learn new skills, and grow as performers, artists, and humans. And all of this while having fun! It's truly a remarkable program in Portland - we are deeply grateful.
